The Lord spoke a word into my heart early this morning so I want to depart from the usual format of my daily devotion and our journey through John to offer a word of hope and encouragement as we navigate the unchartered waters of the coronavirus outbreak. I want to lean into God’s Word today and lead us to a place of prayer. I do not have space include the context of each verse but I believe I am using them in a way which is biblically consistent and contextually correct.

Malachi 3:6 declares God does not change and we will not be destroyed. James 1:17 says every good and perfect gift comes from the Father in heaven who does not change. Hebrews 13:8 states Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:6 promises God will never leave us and he will never forsake us. Remember Daniel in the lions den. When the king came and asked Daniel if God had rescued him from the lions he replied that God sent an angel and shut the mouths of the lions and he was not hurt.

I invite you to believe and live into the fact that if God can shut the mouths of lions and cause the lions to be made harmless, then God can and will shut the mouth of a virus and cause it to be harmless. Join me in standing strong in the word of the Lord.

Father we come to you this morning and declare you are the same yesterday, today and forever. We pray that each of us might live in faith and not fear. We reject the reports this virus will overtake our country and claim the report that you will close the mouth of this virus and render it harmless. We praise you for all you have once done and now pray you will do it again. Yes, do it again Lord! We declare the mouth of this virus closed. Yes, we believe. In Jesus’ strong and powerful name we pray. Amen.
